Our dormant talents that lie within

Here is what I have learned from writing that I would like to pass on to you. We all have dormant
talents that lie inside of us. Can you imagine what you might have inside
of you that has not yet surfaced? I say this because if I can write a 325-page
book—which hopefully has kept you entertained if you have read it, —can you imagine the
endless possibilities in all of us? I do not doubt that we need something to
inspire us or trigger the passion, but maybe there is an easier way as well.

Just take one moment. Please close your eyes and take in a deep breath and
think about something you might have wanted to do at one point of your life,
but now feel it is too late. Keep that thought.

Peggy Lee must have had her own reasons for singing the plaintive tune “Is
that all there is?” but we don’t all have to see life like that. I live agelessly and
passionately and so can you. Many of us think that it is too late to change our
lives or begin something new; especially those women who are forty, fifty, sixty.
Are you now worrying about being “age appropriate”? Maybe you have cut your
hair or lengthened your dress or have stopped wearing sexy clothes with the fear
that you now look silly. Perhaps you have shied away from doing something
you really wanted to do in your life and are saying the words, “If only it were
10 years back.” Some people are truly happy with themselves and their lives,
and I say Bravo because there is nothing better.

However, I am speaking to the women who are letting their lives go by because they think that nothing new lies ahead of them and feel they are getting too old to change it. Their children
are grown; they were their life and they long for grandchildren to come so they
can start all over and feel purposeful again. They follow their husbands or if not
married worry about finding another mate to fulfill them. They do not think
there is anything ahead that they can do to change or excite them.

I say there is. Lots, but you need the spirit in you to come out and to make
new things happen.
