Women on their hands and knees

We all know women who are and have been on their hands and knees begging for love and  marriage. You have seen these women pulling on the pants leg when the love affair goes wrong, and not just in the movies

But here is a new way to be on your hands and knees and feel great about it!

Get out a bucket, fill it with water (vinegar for hard wood) put a towel under your knees and get down there and wash your floor.

The exercise is great, swerling your arms back and forth, up and down off of your knees changing the water, scrub a dub dub and oh those results.

Men have always loved women to be on their hands and knees; the earthy woman like Sophia is sexy to alot of men.

Let me know how you do!

See you on the floor.

Death

A young woman 53 years fought cancer braverly for more than 10 years. She made it!
Having nothing to do with cancer she fell and banged her head tripping as she left her car. She got up and walked into the house taking a bath. She did not survive the bath.
This is the shock and sadness of how fragile our lives are; how we fight and win what we think is our battle, having nothing to do with the real battle of our lives which for some of us is not getting a chance to battle.

George Gershwin's Birthday is today

After watching movie "Rhapsondy in Blue" I am more in love with George Gershwin than ever before. i have learned to sing his songs and they are my favorites. The movie portrayed a loving man and a loving family and explained, the life of the genius within, who must step apart from the average man. I loved the line that "he had to do it alone" something we might not easily recognize amongst some of the genious's we might know in our own life. Thank You Turner Classic Movies for showing this today on George's birthday.

Do you Agree?

"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away
from all the drama and people who create it.
You surround yourself with people who make you laugh.
Forget the bad, and focus on the good.
Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones
who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy.
Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living."

Blue sky's smiling at me

When was the last time you saw a sky so blue? Isn't it beautiful? This was taken at my Sivinanda Yoga Retreat in the Catskill Mountains. They have many retreats around the world.
We practiced 4 hours of yoga a day; the change that came about in my body was amazing such as sitting in a crossed leg position for 30 minutes. It was impossible on the first day but by the 5th day, there I was just like the other yogi's. Vegetarian Food supreme was divine even though I thought? I would have lost more weight than I did. OK I will take 2 pounds in 5 days!  Simplicity at its best!

IMAGAINE YOUR IMAGINATION

When was the last time you imagined something that was not within your normal realm of thinking? Did it come up in a dream or a day dream or simply in conversation?
The best way to put our imagination to use is to zone in on what it is trying to tell us. Maybe you imagined being in a lovely park with flowers? Wouldn't it be nice to just go there? Or visiting a friend you have not seen in a long time? Your imagination has just brought you to these two new places.  Our imagination has no ending; anything is possible and a great way to get to the next step in  life.
Sit down today, close your eyes and imagine! SHARE WITH ME IF YOU WILL

Florence Lipman (my mom) at 85 writes poetry

I don't have space for more wrinkles on my face, but I am young
My skin is flabby and a little shabby, but I am young
I get so mad at me that I can cry when I run into the kitchen and can't remember why, but I am young
When I see a show or watch tv
My eyes are not what they used to be, but I am young
And my hearing sometimes is not so great
So I listen closer to what is my fate, but I am young
Maybe it is too late to learn to skate but never ever to go out on a date, I am young
My income is secure, my dividends are firm, and when I make a new investment, I think long term, I am young
My words fly out freely when I am talking
And I still th
rive on swimming and fast walking; I am young
So though most anthropologists won't agree
I won't be old to 103
And maybe even then we will see
I am young Forever

Looking for Blogs!

Are you a blog addict? Who are you addicted to?  What kind of blogs do you enjoy reading?

I'd love all suggestions!

Social Media: What? Why? How?

When I was growing up, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest (is that what it's called?!) didn't exist!  We would write letters, make phonecalls, and even, gasp, visit each other!

Now I have all these new platforms to learn in so little time! Hashtags, URLS, re-tweets?  What?

Thanks to all my Twitter followers for keeping me motivated!

Hillary Clinton looks Beautiful

Last nights book signing of was a terrific event; great food and in came Hillary Clinton looking absolutely radiant. Told her we have much in common such as breaking our elbow and passing out from stomach flu at exact same time. Must admit we have something else in common such as loving Bill

Families... Do you belong in the family you have?

What are you thinking I am thinking?

All families have their problems, arguments, disagreements  but love is the underlying force.

For 35 years I have tried to make my divorced husband a good friend by keeping the family part of our relationship going. We have shared all occasions and get to gethers and talks.

Did I do it so the tie would never be broken because I could not let go;  or for more positive reasons?

I once learned from a therapist never to trust an ex. I have recently found out no matter how caring and loving I have tried to be to him, his anger and hurt has stayed with him throughout our divorced life.

I have come to the conclusion after knowing him for 62 years that  I no longer belong in his company or he in mine. The sad part is that one of my sons is following in his footsteps.  I suddenly thought. "I don't really belong in this family."
How do you feel about yours?

So much of the stuff we go through each day is pure nonsense and in the end will mean little or nothing

Good Sunday Morning

  • What I mean is we go through so much each day to get through our day. Much of our negativity that might come into a day, does not make much sense especially when we are on the outs with a friend, co-worker or family No doubt as human beings we disagree on many things but when we harbor bad feeling towards ourselves or others,  misery that may only be pure nonsense, walks into our day and ruins it. In the end most of us will not be able to remember what upset us if it falls under the category of nonsense.

A SERIOUS THOUGHT

When my time came. I thought I would be buried in florida with  my parents  so purchased a plot which I later sold when I moved back to NYC loosing $2000.00.  It has plagued me how to prepare for my kids sake but could not come up with a easy answer. Who is going to come to my funeral anyway?

At a luncheon yesterday from a complete stranger I got my answer. "I do not want a funeral nor do I want to be buried anywhere," she said.

From this same person who has my namesake spelled with an e at the end, she farther stated her ashes will be scattered on the street where she lives and loves.

How brilliant I thought. Simple easy and uncomplicated, I will follow her wisdom.

I love my street too; I also love Central Park and all the wonderful trails.

I will pick a spot and all of my inevitable problems are solved. May you and I live to be 110, but in the meantime, it is a serious thought. Would you like to add dialogue?

Below is gravesite of my wonderful Grandmother. We will soon straighten out her stone.

At what point of life are you at today?

What has brought you to your present moment in life? happiness, sadness, inspiration, love, health wealth?  Please share by telling.  Best response wins my new book.

We are all where we are from our past experiences. Hopefully we have learned a thing or two especially about  our mistakes. Who knew they were good for us? Without them how could we have known what was best? Keep making them and keep learning not to repeat them. That is growth.

Recipe: Famous Baked Apples!

Choose your favorite apple for baking.  I bought mine at the farmer's market and I like small ones.  Core and place apples in glass baking dish with a half a cup of water. Bake at 350 for one hour, add fruit preserves (any brand will do!) or if you prefer, Stevia, a natural sweetener. Place sweetener in open core and bake another 45 minutes.  Let cool. Enjoy!

Gorgeous Central Park after the big snow.

Stood and gazed at the beauty in my own back yard. Crystals hanging from snow covered tree branches, buildings in the distance and pathway covered with white clean snow (won't last long) Took my nordic walking poles and lifted my boots and took off on a lovely walk.

Nobody wants to be first (including me)

A luncheon was planned at Sardi's today with about six other women.

The snow alert came and I thought of cancelling, however I did not want to appear as a whimp so waited and waited for an e mail to arrive that it was cancelled by the hostess. However she didn't want to be the first either. Other e mails from the guests arrived in my mail box wondering ( and I am sure hoping ) it was cancelled. At zero hour, 11/2 hours before the hostess did cancel much to all of our relief. The point is, each one of us did not want to the first whimp.

"THIS IS WHAT WE DO NOW"...

Retirees age 65 and older are the fastest-growing group of social networkers on sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace, according to a 2012 survey by the Pew Research Center's Internet and American Life Project. The report found that 40 percent of Internet users older than 65 use Facebook, up 150 percent since 2009.

Golden-agers are also signing onto Twitter in record numbers. In 2009, only 5 percent of Internet users in the 50 to 64 age bracket had used Twitter, or some other status-update service. It's now up to 11 percent.

NEW YORK (AP) — Too much drama, boredom and scads of irrelevant information are just some of the reasons Facebook users give for taking a break from the world's biggest social networking site for weeks at a time, according to a new study.
MY TAKE: THERE IS JUST TOO MUCH TO READ EACH DAY.

Suzanne Somers taught me how to keep my waistline. Would you like to know how she did it?

Learning about Social Networking

In promoting my new book, "Here Comes Amazing You", I decided it would be a great idea to get more involved with social networking!

And who knows about social networking better than a college student?

I found a student studying at Columbia University to help me expand my skills on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!

We've been having fun coming up with new ideas to develop my Facebook page, creating inspiring boards on Pinterest, and connecting with celebrities via Twitter.

It is unimaginable how much there is to learn.

The teacher!

1970's NYC Ed Koch

The passing of Ed Koch reminds me of what NYC used to be like in the 1970's. Murders and crimes were at its peak and nobody wanted to be here. Real Estate was cheap, the upper west side was the place NOT to be.

Grant you it is many years later but look what we have now and have had for so many years. The city keeps us busy at every given moment from the tippity top to its rounding bottom with wonderful things to do, learn and love. Ed brought the city through and remained its best friend until his passing last night.

Inspiring.

Self Publish Now!

Let's take away the stigma of a self-published book. Let's be excited about the times we live in and that we do not have to wait for an agent, ho hum, then a publisher, ho ho hum, and three years in the making, ho ho ho hum, to see your book on a shelf.

With the right inspiration and attitude you can see your book after completion, out in the world!

Write, self-publish, and be proud!

Segregation

Last night was invited to a drop by a club where my friend was performing. I did not make a reservation. Even though he had saved a chair for me at his table the owner would not allow me to sit at his table. I had to sit at the bar while he sat at his table. Give me a break...

My old mink coat ( 25 years)

No, I would not buy a new one in todays world but am milking mine till the very end. The lining was perfect so turned it inside out with the beat up fur on the inside. Then I cut (with just a plain scissor) the length, put the scraps in one bag and the coat in another to go to the tailor to sew up the lining. DID YOU GUESS IT? I threw the wrong plastic bag down the incinerator and the poor guys in my building had to sift through the garbaaaage... luckily it was on Sunday and discovered within a half hour so yup got it back. After the hem is hemmed with belt it with leather... Do you hav any stories on about an old coat?
